An unknown resistance story from Auschwitz – lecture of Prof. M. Kornat on Witold Pilecki at Humanity House (5 March 2019, starting from 15:15)
Sir/ Madam,
Pilecki Institute, Polish Embassy in the Hague and Humanity House are organizing together a lecture on Witold Pilecki. He was a Polish cavalry officer, intelligence agent and resistance leader who volunteered for a Polish resistance operation that involved being imprisoned in the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz – Birkenau in order to gather intelligence. Risking his own life, sharing depravation and terrors of the Nazist death industry with fellow prisoners, he managed to escape in order to inform the Western world about what happened behind closed gate of the camp. This unknown story will be presented by prof. Marek Kornat – Polish historian, sovietologist, source editor, essayist, associate professor and head of the Department of History of Diplomacy and Totalitarian Systems at the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences, as well as professor at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (both in Warsaw).
The lecture will take place on 5 March at 15:15 in the Humanity House. Hoping that this event would be of interest to you, we encourage visiting website of the Humanity House for more details and registration. https://www.humanityhouse.org/en/event/lecture-an-unknown-resistance-story-from-auschwitz/
